Finally I found something. These little items I thought would make fantastic miniature fretwork. I'm not entirely sure where I am going to put them, but I had thought I'd regret it if I didn't purchase them.
I loved these little corners and thought they would make great shelf supports. each one has a little Kookaburra (an Aussie bird) on them.
The last one I got a couple of packets of. I thought they'd make something but what? When I got home it occurred to me that they might make great pelmets to go over a window. They are a perfect size for it.
So readers what do you think? Do you have any ideas on what these could be used for? I'd love to hear what you would do with them.
IndyPoppy
It looks like a great find. They may well be used for shelves or decoration on walls or ceilings You might also use some as fences.
ReplyDeleteI love your new front page.

Wyrna
Hi Wyrana,
DeleteI wondered if they would work on ceilings. I think I will need to buy some more to experiment with.
IndyPoppy

Great pieces, I always take a slow scan through these when I can, as you did, you can find some wonderful embellishments!
ReplyDeleteThey are great and I love that they have an Australian theme.
DeleteHello Indy-Poppy! These are wonderful and I am sure that once you start playing with them, all sorts of things will come to mind. I have seen this type of fretwork in the upper portion of Victorian doorways. They are usually painted or stained the same color as the wood door frame and are lacy delicate delineation's of the space between the rooms such as between a hallway and a parlor or dining room. I would Google Victorian Fretwork and see what you can and how to best utilize your purchases. I think you Scored Big Time!

Thats a great idea Elizabeth, I will have a look at Google images. They did remind me of doorways and they are almost the perfect size for it.

Ciao, un ottimo acquisto! Io ne posseggo uno in dimensioni reali e l'ho adoperato come sopra porta per separare due stanze. Le tonalità solitamente sono nelle colorazioni pastello.
ReplyDeleteUn caro saluto, Manu
Hello Manu,
DeleteI checked out the manufactures website and it looks like you can buy them pre painted in a few colours. They only had raw ones at the fair. I'm hoping I can stain them. And if that doesn't work I will paint them.
IndyPoppy
Hello Indy and Poppy.
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic finds. I think they look great for gingerbread trim, pelmets, architectural details...the look very well done in the pictures...I cannot wait to see what you do with them.
Big hug,
Giac
Hi Giac,
DeleteThe photos don't show them very well, but you are right they are extremely crisp cuts. I think they use a CNC machine. It made me wonder if you could get the manufacturer to make custom orders. So that they could be definitely the right scale.
IndyPoppy
Great finds! I could see them as wall hangings, painted and with embellishments added. You could hang them above an outside window and grown vines through them, and use them as a headboard on a bed. Looks like you're going to have lots of fun! xo Jennifer
ReplyDeleteI love both of your ideas. I have been drooling over a kit I recently saw that was a wisteria vine. You could probably make a gazebo out of them as well.
DeleteYour purchases look very fin. I think they will be very handy in making pretty miniatures. I am looking forward to see them back in your posts, as part of a shelf, a cupboard, a window....who knows, it's all up to your creativity :D
ReplyDeleteHugs, Liduina
Thanks Liduina, I can't wait to use them.
DeleteIndyPoppy
These are great, what a fantastic find! I love scouting for things that can be used for miniatures, though that wasn't their original intended use.
ReplyDeleteI was really excited when I found them. I had almost given up thinking I'd find something there.
DeleteIndyPoppy
Those are awesome! I love the scrapbook stuff. It's pretty good for the minis. Those are really cool. They will look great anywhere. That would really make a porch look romantic.
ReplyDeletehugs♥,
Caroline
