Playing with bottles.

I found a couple of tutorials on the net on how to make miniature perfume bottles and I thought I'd have a go. I decided to use a couple of jewelry bits and pieces. I'm trying superglue first to see if it works. I'm a little concerned that it has left some white residue near the glue site. I've left them to dry before I trim them.

Best Easter Ever!

This week I received a fabulous gift from my boyfriend. Somehow, somewhere he found a person who had purchased a dollhouse kit whilst living in Canada. They purchased the kit from Ross' Treasure House and it is based on a Houseworks Victorian Design. (Does anyone have a house from this shop? I'd love to see the completed design) Anyway it became mine during the week!

There were 4 boxes in total.

As I started to unpack the boxes there were heaps and heaps of extras. All the doors and windows are in the pack. The wall cladding, stairs, spindles, railings, shingles are all there. There are a heap of timber bits and pieces, possibly architrave and some flooring sheets. It also looks like there might be a heap of wallpaper, enough for the whole house. (William Morris Designs)

Now all of this was pretty exciting but there was one more box to look in. It looked like a heap more house pieces. As I was pulling it out of the box a piece of paper came with it. It ends up that the original owner also purchased an optional extension. The extension is a combination of a tower kit and an extension. This means that my new house will have 12 rooms. (Very exciting). So I'll finally be able to have a decent sized kitchen, bathroom, dining room, lounge room, study, main bedroom, baby room, music room etc etc. I've always liked a house that had a turrett, and I've finally got one (even if it is in a million bits)

Part of the wiring kit was also in there so I'll have to buy a few bits for it.

I won a prize and I got to go to the Miniature Fair.

Last weekend I got to go to the ACTME miniatures show in Canberra. There were lots of goodies to choose from. I was very carefull and didn't go to crazy (though it was very tempting).

The little pot of daffodils is hand made and is perfect for the front stairs of Mum's shop.

Both the rolling pin and board are hand made. How cute is the rolling pin. My mum had a real size marble rolling pin just like this.

Mini bag and hat for the lady of the house.

Last month I won a beautiful prize from Katrina. You can read her great blog at http://nukkekotisonaatti.blogspot.com.au/.
Thanks again Katrina.

In Memory Of Poppy.

Just over a week ago our beloved great dane "Poppy" died from a back injury. Yes it is the Poppy who my blog is named after. Poppy was the first great dane we have ever rescued after being given up for adoption because of her size. Poppy was a wonderful dog, who came to us with many issues.

Poppy was very scared of men and with time grew to trust Shane and I. We feel that she may have been abused by her previous owners which would account for why she was so scared of most people. The abuse she suffered also might account for her back injuries. She loved Shane and I and would always come up for a pat.

She was a great dog who gave us a few years of wondeful memories to keep.

The top photo is of Poppy in her favourite position, up side down!

I will miss Poppy terribly.

A New Stove

I was super excited when I saw that the local miniature shop had a sale and all items were 25% off. I have been looking for a different stove for the house and this little one caught my eye. In all the excitement I didn't check the stove and take it out of the box (Big Mistake!) As soon as I got home I noticed the breakages. Three of the four legs had broken off. Luckily inside the stove's box were each of the broken pieces of the legs. Thankfully my boyfriend jumped in to save the day and glued them back on. You can see the cracks but hopefully with a little bit of white paint this should fix it. Please learn from my mistake (I know I have) Depending on the product, you should be able to ask for it to be removed from the box to look at it properly. Anyway, I'm still excited about the stove and can't wait to add some kitchen items to it.
